Anoka, MN-based elementary school is seeking an Onsite Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) for the 2025-2026 school year to provide essential support within the special education department. This contract position, running from January through early June, offers a meaningful opportunity to positively impact student behavior and success across four elementary schools.

Key Responsibilities:

• Consult with school teams to design and implement positive behavior interventions and supports tailored to student needs.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments to guide effective behavior plans.
• Collaborate closely with another BIS, the Special Education Administrator, and school staff.
• Implement strategies to reinforce positive behaviors, use de-escalation techniques, and appropriately redirect behaviors as needed, including restrictive procedures when required.
• Support the creation and execution of individualized education plans in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
• Provide staff training on behavioral strategies and recommendations.
• Maintain a safe environment for all students and staff.
• Utilize behavioral data to inform programming and support student progress.
• Adapt flexibly to the needs of students, remaining calm and effective during crisis situations.
• Uphold all school policies and administrative procedures.

Qualifications:

• Licensed BCBA or Special Education Teacher (Tier 3 or 4 license required if applying as a SpEd Teacher).
• Experience conducting functional behavior assessments and implementing behavior support plans.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to maintain professionalism and provide effective training to staff.
• Competency in data-driven decision making and crisis management.

Work Details:

• Location: Anoka, MN
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:10 PM (37.5 hours per week)
• Duration: January 5, 2026 June 5, 2026
• Supports four elementary schools within the district
